What you are looking for is what’s looking, St. Francis of Assisi.
Welcome back.
Hall of Mirrors Technique
Picture a hall of mirrors. It can be long or oval shaped, any way you like. Picture it as it might be in one of those penny arcade places, where each mirror you stand before gives you a different reflection of yourself. The first will show a long skinny you, the next a squat barrel-shaped you, all jokey and fun. Except this hall of mirrors you’re in now is different, because instead of showing you disproportionate versions of yourself it reflects back to you people in your life. Look in the first mirror and who do you see? Maybe it’s your partner. Spend some time enjoying the approval and love in their eyes as they gaze back at you. Then move on. Who is in the next mirror? Your father, perhaps, or your mother. What feelings does this bring up? It may be different if they’ve passed on than if they’re still alive.
Continue along each mirror. One has your boss, do you feel resentment or approval? Another ex-lovers, friends who have passed out of your life. What feelings do these engender? People you know and love come and go, allow even the difficult people to appear. Know that whatever problems you have with them, it is a mirror after all, and what’s really looking back at you is some part of yourself.
Now ask yourself 3 questions:
1. What is the one thing, if you could, you would change about your relationship with that person?
2. Even if meeting them again in the hall of mirrors was difficult, think of one good quality in the person. How has this impacted on you?
3. How could you change your relationship to one of love with the person?
I think the mirror is a brilliant metaphor, because every time we look into it we see ourselves, faithfully recorded. If we’re sad it shows us that, upset too. Everyone you know or ever met is really some part of you. Some are easier to come to terms with than others, but they’re all there, reflected in the inner regions of your soul.

Words of Wisdom
‘When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds, your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties, and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far that you ever dreamed yourself to be.’
Patanjali.
