News from the Unscripted SelfAbove all else guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it, Proverbs 4:23Affirmations For SuccessA lot has been written about affirmations. They really are the staple diet of the ‘Self Help’ industry, aren’t they?I tend to use affirmations in an different way. I don’t say them by rote, you know morning and evening, I find that turns into a ritual, and rituals turn into ruts. It blunts their efficacy. Instead I will saturate my thoughts with the affirmation or what it is I want to bring about. A good time is before going to sleep at night. First thing when I wake in the morning, or as early as possible if I happen to be a bit groggy, I like to set an intention for the day ahead. It can be something specific, such as ‘I will download that new software that I need’, but usually it’s something like, ‘today will be filled with lots of blessings, laughter, and serendipitous events’. Or, if you notice you’ve been having crappy thoughts running around your head of late (and we all do!), then set the intention ‘today I will only hold thoughts
of calmness and joy’.
Health WarningNow there are a lot of people out there teaching this stuff, you know the law of attraction and manifesting the ‘life of dreams’, and quite frankly a lot of them don’t know what they’re talking about. In fact, some of what they teach is a little dangerous.Take affirmations. By declaring you want to create something in your life, you are simultaneously reminding yourself you don’t have it! And so the danger is you become like a hamster going round and round creating more of what you don’t want. Now, I’ll let you in on a little secret. You already have the thing you want, you only think you don’t have it. Because as a child of Pure Love and Light you have everything. There is no way this could not be so. But the ego, which is really the conditioned mind, gets in the way (not intentionally, but it does!) and it thinks that there’s stuff we don’t have and need. So it keeps us in ‘need’ all the time. It’s our thinking that is our undoing. Hence, if you do affirmations from the place of need then you are simply going to stay there. However, if you’re coming from a different place, from a place where you know with absolute certainty that you’re totally cared for and lacking nothing, then your affirmations will have much more potency. You see the stuff that you want is not outside you, it’s not “someplace else”, and by continually thinking this we keep it in this imagined someplace else, and so keep from experiencing it. But when we realise that we already have the thing we want, which is the Truth, then it will show up in our lives. Not because we “manifest” it (I never really liked that word, it conjures up images of some demented magician trying to create something out of nothing), but because now we can see what was always there, and which we were blind to before because of our thinking.
“What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter”, Albert Einstein There is no such thing as matter, all is energy. That means right now you have everything you want, although it may still only exist as potential. By concentrating your mind, thoughts and emotions you can collapse it into the substance around us which we call reality. There’s nothing magical about any of this, it’s science and common sense. Affirmations are a tool. But the power is in you.
It’s good to write affirmations down, so they say.
I wrote a post a long time ago about
affirmations
which is still relevant, and (I think!) is along the same lines as I’ve been saying here.
Distant HealingPrayers and distant healing please for Nepal, those still trapped there, and anyone feeling fear or missing a loved one.
Last word on affirmations:Want to attract more wealth into your life. Try this.
"In its own good time, and in a healthy manner that benefits everyone, I intend $1,000,000 to come into my life and into the lives of all who hold this intention".
A great way to bring something into your life is to help somebody else achieve it. In other words if you want to get rich help others to get rich, and then just watch your bank account swell! And remember, don’t come from the head, will power won’t do it. Always affirm from the heart. Have a lovely day.
Cheers!
That's all folks
Talk to you soon.
